It has been almost 1 year and half of the world has been hit by a covid virus and a pandemic that has frightened many people. However in Malang there is a bunch of cool kids who love hardcore & punk music who do not pay attention to this.

Distant Than Your Crew

Creating an event entitled the Distant Than Your Crew (DTYC vol.1) these youths are a bunch of progressive youths who often hold hardcore music performances in the city of Malang. Overall there are many differences in holding an event during a pandemic. Starting from a secret venue and tickets are sold for a limited number. This is also a reunion or friendship with fellow hardcore kids after not seeing each other for a long time. Youths from Batu, Solo, Sidoarjo, Jakarta became one in pouring their energy at the (DTYC vol.1).

The concept must be indoor and closed so as not to attract the attention of the general public passing around the venue. In times of a pandemic like this holding a music event is very difficult. Coupled with the complexity of permits and complicated bureaucracy. The simple platform and the venue that were not that big added to the excitement and passion of hardcore kid at that time. After not moshing and twosteps for a long time that afternoon they completed their hiatus to miss this at the (DTYC vol.1). Cloudy weather and light drizzle colored that day and the spirit of Malang hardcore kid power did not fade to come to the venue. That is what makes this event even more lively, previously it was quite synonymous with large audiences and large or outdoor venue.

Centra, BTL, ROE, Hark

This group of young Malang city hardcore kids did not lose hope to hold such an event. The line up itself is filled with connections from the kid’s hardcore friends. Namely Centra (JAKARTA) which after doing their tour from the city of Solo and the rest local bands from Malang city such as Hark, ROOTS OF EARTH, Break The Lock, Keep It Real, Shred Necks, Tanhad, Unrest. One of the most memorable performances was from the hardcore violence band from Jakarta, CENTRA. This newly founded band in the show this time they made a very massive distortion and made hardcore kid two step and moshing even more violent. Accompanied by an intro cover song from Three Knee Deep. In addition, they used an aditional drum band from Solo, Cahyo (True Unit). Besides that another action that was also interesting at this event was the first show from the local band Hark, they just released their first single on the bandcamp site entitled Killing My Other Self. This band whose ffo from Vein succeeded in delivering such an energetic performance in their set. Stolen mic and stagedive violent became a very exciting scene at that time. The show was stopped because the rain was getting heavier and the thunder was so strong when Break The Lock just delivered 2 songs title cover Sunami, turnback & outro. After a few minutes of pause, the crew ended the event, even though Keep it real canceled due to the thunderous lightning, Hardcore kid was satisfied and happy because after a long time they were able to gather again and spill energy while moshing.

Distant than your crew which means different from your crew. The choice of the word distant, which means different, means that each scene has its own way of making movement different from the previous one. DTYC is not only about hardcore, all elements of the genre can be accepted here and become a platform for other bands to be more productive. (Rizki Dhani) Hark, Minfield.

With the existence of DTYC, Many hope that young people who create in the culture scene (a Malang city in particular, do not rule out other cities) to be more enthusiastic about being productive in their create. Dhani a representative from DTYC also hopes that the existence of DTYC vol.1 will further break the underground music scene in Malang during this pandemic. Also so that there are no boundaries between young or old generation. Can share knowledge with each other and support to be more developed as well as add friendships from outside any city..
